ASSISTANT MANAGER JOB DESCRIPTION

The Assistant Manager must work hand in hand with the manager of the crèche. She / he must have an excellent working knowledge of the day to day running of the crèche. If instructed by the crèche manager, she / he must assume responsibility for the centre.

Duties:

  • Overall responsibility for the room you are working in (please refer to Room Description on wall)
  • Responsibilities/duties as designated from time to time by crèche Manager
  • Complete responsibility for the crèche, in the absence of the Manager
  • Take all reasonable measures to safe guard the health, safety and welfare of the children and to promote the development of the children attending your room
  • Active communication with room / all crèche team members on a daily basis
  • Motivate room / all crèche team members on a daily basis
  • Have a full working knowledge and implement the HSE (Childcare Regulations 2006) guidelines. In the absence of the Manager, must know where all relevant paperwork required by the HSE inspector can be located on the premises and must be able to answer all of the inspectors questions competently
  • Communicate openly & in a positive manner, on a daily basis, with management, parents and prospective customers
  • Ensure all documentation relevant to the crèche is up to date and easily accessible, if required
  • Ensure security measures in building are adhered to e.g. cash, keys, alarm, access etc
  • Be a point of contact for the Alarm / Security company, in the instance of alarm activation out of hours
  • Conduct interviews with your own crèche manager and other Best Creche Group managers, when required
  • Collection / delivery of children from designated locations in vehicle provided, if instructed by your manager

Education, Knowledge and Skills Required or Desired

  • Minimum Fetac Level 6 or equivalent in Childcare
  • Excellent communication and motivation skills
  • Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a growing team
  • Be organised and well disciplined
  • Be child & parent focused and have strong relationship building skills
  • Ability to promote the crèche and potentially grow the business
  • Full, clean driving licence
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and other relevant PC skills
